Project Features
Completion: 2008
- Owner: Ville de Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce
- Architect: Les Architectes Odette Roy et Isabelle Jacques
- Engineer: Genivar
- General contractor: G-Mar-Tec
- Design, fabrication, delivery and construction
- Used for the maintenance and storage of municipal vehicles
- 6,000 sq. ft. (180 ft. wide x 150 ft. long)
- Exterior finish consisting of metal cladding and thin brick, both shop-installed by Murox®
- The municipal garage benefits from thermal ventilated panel (VTP) technology developed by Murox® and installed on the south-facing facade of the building. The VTP wall captures solar energy to preheat outside air as a means of saving energy.
- Also integrated into the building are a high performance lighting system and a radiant heating system using geothermal technology.
- By combining highly energy-efficient systems, this building achieves an energy savings of 60%, compared to a building without these features.
- The building structure, entirely fabricated by Murox®, is composed of shop-assembled load-bearing wall panels and field-assembled structural steel components.
