| The engineering firm Banerjee & Associates Ltd. earns Honourable Mention for the summer of 2010
Canam’s Honourable Mention for the summer of 2010 is conferred upon the engineering firm Banerjee & Associates Ltd. of Markham, Ontario, for the Niagara Falls Convention & Civic Centre project in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
In each edition of Canam Info-Tech, Honourable Mention is conferred upon a consulting engineering firm that resolved a complex problem at the project design stage, while making optimum use of Canam products and/or solutions. Other factors taken into consideration include adherence to the construction budget, alternative solutions that generate major cost savings, easier installation and simplified project coordination.
Canam Canada collaborated with Banerjee & Associates on the design and detailing of steel products for the Niagara Falls Convention & Civic Centre. In partnership with Technyx, Canam completed the structural steel detailing of 11 steel trusses, each approximately 76 metres (250 feet) in length and weighing approximately 65 tons. In addition, Canam designed and fabricated open-web steel joists, joist girders, trusses and steel deck and also coordinated the installation of the horizontal bracing system through these products.
The components for this special project were fabricated at Canam’s Mississauga, ON plant and Boucherville and St. Gédéon, QC plants.
