| The engineering firm NORR Limited earns Honourable Mention for the fall of 2009
Canam’s Honourable Mention for the fall of 2009 is conferred upon the engineering firm NORR Limited of Toronto, Ontario, for the New Brunswick Casino project in Moncton, New Brunswick.
In each edition of Canam Info-Tech, Honourable Mention is conferred upon a consulting engineering firm that resolved a complex problem at the project design stage, while making optimum use of Canam products and/or solutions. Other factors taken into consideration include adherence to the construction budget, alternative solutions that generate major cost savings, easier installation and simplified project coordination.
For this project, Canam Canada’s business development and sales teams proposed economical solutions to optimize structural components such as girders, joists and steel deck. In addition, Canam shared its knowledge and expertise for optimizing the roof deck’s diaphragm action and designing non-standard joist connections.
The different types of joists and joist girders were fabricated at Canam’s St. Gédéon plant, and the steel deck at its Boucherville plant.
Congratulations to NORR Limited for distinguishing itself during the planning and design stages of the project.
