It is my pleasure to welcome you to the first Canam Info-Tech edition of 2008.
Launched in August 2005, this online publication provides construction professionals with the latest information on Canam products and steel-framed buildings. The articles published to date have addressed many of the frequently asked questions in the industry.
For 2008, we have decided to reach out to a wider range of professionals. Initially targeted at design engineers, Canam Info-Tech will now include a section intended for architects. Articles will explore new and creative construction solutions as well as the numerous architectural features offered by Canam Canada.
In this edition, an article outlines the information required for detailed field measurements of existing joists that need to be reinforced. Also introduced is the architectural Versa-Dek® product newly distributed by Canam Canada as well as the new “composite girder” marketed by the Hambro business unit of Canam Group.
Congratulations go in this edition to the engineering firm of Glotman-Simpson Group of Companies which has earned Honourable Mention for the expansion of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre. This ongoing project, incorporating over 3,000 tons of joists and deck, required the expertise of engineers from both Canam Calgary and Glotman-Simpson who worked together for the best use of Canam products.
