Klaus-Alexander Rieder has, for the past 11 years, been responsible for fiber development at W.R. Grace in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he is a senior principal scientist. He has published numerous articles and has obtained several patents in the field of synthetic macro fibers. Klaus-Alexander recently relocated to Germany to help strengthen Grace’s research capabilities in Europe. He holds a Sc.D. in physics from the Technical University of Vienna. His research interests include all durability aspects of concrete, cracking of concrete and the development of high performance fibers for concrete applications.
Klaus-Alexander is a member of ACI Committees 209 - Creep and Shrinkage in Concrete; 446 - Fracture Mechanics of Concrete; and 544 - Fiber Reinforced Concrete. He is also a member of ASTM and RILEM.
