Versa-Dek®

Description
Canam Canada is pleased to offer new products as part of its comprehensive line of metal deck profiles. Versa-Dek®, produced by Metal Dek Group®, a unit of CSi (Consolidated Systems Incorporated), comprises a number of metal deck profiles utilizing the inherent strength and aesthetic appeal of the dovetail shape. This product provides architectural and structural designers with a vast array of both composite floor and roof deck options.

Additionally, the Versa-Dek® system provides support for gravity loads between the joists and/or beams. Once installed, the deck can also be used as a horizontal brace and therefore act as a diaphragm.

Versa-Dek® allows architects and engineers to have increased creative design options and greater flexibility than with standard decking since it fulfills both structural and aesthetic needs. Versa-Dek® allows a design team to specify a highly functional and versatile building element that will also provide construction economies on all projects.

Roof deck
Versa-Dek® S is a 51-mm (2”) deep, dovetail-shaped, structural roof deck that provides an excellent support surface for various types of roofing materials. It is utilized as a secondary structural member to provide for lateral force distribution to the structure’s vertical force resisting systems.

Characteristics:
  • FM-approved
  • Dovetail shape (Figure 2)
  • Increased load-carrying capacity
  • Lineal plank look
  • Clean, aesthetic appearance
  • Acoustical option (Figures 1 and 3)

Versa-Dek® 3.5 LS is an 89-mm (3-½”) deep, dovetail-shaped, structural roof deck that also provides an excellent support surface for various types of roofing materials. Like Versa-Dek® S, it is utilized as a secondary structural member to provide for lateral force distribution to the structure’s vertical force resisting systems.

Characteristics:
  • FM-approved
  • Dovetail shape (Figure 5)
  • Deeper profile for greater span capacity
  • Lineal plank look
  • Acoustical option (NRC values from 0.90 to 1.15) (Figures 4 and 6)

Floor deck
Versa-Dek® XLS is a 51-mm (2”) deep, dovetail-shaped, structural floor deck that is specially designed with minor rib stiffeners and embossments that create exceptional composite action for increased floor slab system spans. The combined design of the stiffeners and embossments allows the product to achieve a shear bond for increased span and load-carrying capacities.

Versa-Dek® XLS has a UL fire rating of 1 to 3 hours in assemblies where the metal deck is directly exposed to fire (unprotected), and thus provides the thinnest floor slab depth of any composite deck system. Versa-Dek® XLS’s unique dovetail shape offers designers a readied surface with a smooth, clean, aesthetic appearance for various ceiling options, including textured plaster, paint and finished gypsum boards.

Characteristics:
  • Dovetail shape (Figure 8)
  • UL ratings from 1 to 3 hours (Unprotected)
  • Lineal plank look
  • Acoustical option

Versa-Dek® 3.5LS is an 89-mm (3-½”) deep, dovetail-shaped, structural floor deck that also provides a composite floor slab system. Minor rib stiffeners along the flat, bottom dovetail shape allow designers to create a tight, lineal plank ceiling look. The Versa-Dek® 3.5 LS provides a readied surface with a smooth, clean, aesthetic appearance for textured plaster, painted and finished gypsum board ceilings.

Characteristics:
  • Dovetail shape (Figure 10)
  • Deeper profile for greater span capacity
  • Lineal plank look
  • Acoustical option (NRC values from 0.90 to 1.15) (Figure 9)
  • Versa-Dek® 3.5 LS AC (Floor) is UL and ULC-approved
