Canam Canada wins contracts for Alberta distribution center expansion project

Canam Canada has secured two contracts—one from steel fabricator Whitemud Ironworks Ltd. and another from Igloo Erectors Ltd.—to fabricate joists and steel deck for the expansion of the Western Groceries Freeport distribution center located in Calgary, Alberta. The expanded facility will cover a total surface area of 180,000 square feet (more than 16,720 m²).

Canam’s Calgary plant will fabricate the 450 tons of joists and steel deck required for this expansion project, with deliveries scheduled to begin in July 2008. Technyx, a business unit of Canam Group, will be collaborating with Canam on this project. According to Calgary officials, the city’s development activity continues to be very strong this year.
