Murox plays a key role at the inauguration of the new Stageline plant
On October 1, 2008, five years of vanguard thinking and sustained research culminated with the inauguration of Stageline Group’s new plant in l’Assomption, which becomes the most energy-efficient industrial building ever built in Quebec.
Following many years of research and development, Murox has successfully integrated its high thermal efficiency building envelope with a number of mechanical components in order to significantly reduce the amount of energy needed for heating, cooling and lighting. Murox is the first building designer-manufacturer to offer a fully integrated energy-efficient solution.
“We didn’t hesitate one moment to invest in the innovative technologies that make our building a unique laboratory,” explained Lise Morissat, president and chief operating officer of Stageline Group. “With Murox, we’ve found a practical way for a small and medium-sized business such as ours to take on a sustainable construction project.”
On the day of the inauguration, Murox set up several booths inside the building to provide information on the different mechanical components that were selected for the Stageline project and will allow the company save up to 70% in energy costs. These components include a high thermal resistance building envelope, double-paned windows coated with low-emissivity film, a geothermal system, radiant flooring, ventilated thermal panels, a heat recovery ventilation system, an optimized lighting system, and a control and monitoring system. A Murox team member was stationed at each booth in order to answer the numerous questions from guests. The inauguration of the Stageline plant was therefore an exceptional opportunity for Murox to demonstrate the efficiency of these components as well as its expertise.
Speaking to the crowd, Marc Dutil, president and chief operating officer of Canam Group, underlined the steadfast efforts of both Murox and Canam Group in achieving their goal of offering optimal and integrated business solutions for the construction of highly energy-efficient buildings. “Murox’s fully integrated solution makes energy efficiency accessible to building owners who otherwise would have abandoned their efforts, given the complex nature of the work involved,” explained Mr. Dutil. “Murox and Canam Group have spent considerable time and effort over the last few years, perfecting an optimized and cost-effective solution. Both companies look forward to pursuing their leading role in order to grow the number of construction starts of high energy efficiency buildings, thus helping to reduce the ecological footprint of buildings in their very own way.”
A number of public figures were also present at the inauguration, including Quebec Labour Minister David Whissell, who equally represents the Lanaudière region. Impressed by the building, Mr. Whissell pointed out that “this project advocates expertise in sustainable construction in addition to providing a setting for engineers, architects, worksite managers and trades to acquire state-of-the-art skills and know-how.”
