Canam Canada wins a contract for The Launch at Hingham Shipyard

Canam Canada recently obtained a contract from steel fabricator Norgate Metal Inc. to fabricate more than 275 tons of joists and steel deck for nine buildings covering a total surface area of 157,000 square feet (14,585 m²). These buildings are included in the redevelopment of the Hingham Shipyard in Hingham, Massachusetts—an exciting new project called The Launch at Hingham Shipyard.

The steel joists for these nine buildings will be fabricated in the St. Gédéon de Beauce, QC, plant and the steel deck in the Boucherville, QC, plant. Certain buildings will include scissor joists in addition to standard joists. All of these components will be delivered in June 2008. Technyx, a business unit of Canam Group, will be collaborating on this project.

The Launch at Hingham Shipyard will deliver to the community in the greater Boston metropolitan area the first mixed-use, transit-oriented development located along the waterfront, giving this destination enormous appeal. The Launch is designed to provide a one-stop experience that includes shopping, dining, entertainment, recreation, luxury living and a celebration of the Shipyard’s rich history.
